A Pacific Northwest artist, Betty Pehme works out of her studio in Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, creating images that reflect her interpretation of the West Coast. Betty’s lifestyle can be best summarized by Voltaire's “The happiest of all lives is busy solitude.”

Pehme's imagery is mainly abstract, often referred to as "organic landscapes." Other pieces are whimsical, representing scenes of everyday life, while the underlying thread of human relationships is often at the very core of her work.
I enjoy experimentation; the combination of materials, techniques, and processes which may produce an element of the unforeseen.
Betty Pehme
Pehme draws upon her mastery of metal arts, textiles, print making, and painting while furthering the exploration of image making. As a result, this merging of different media creates images that do not readily fall under traditional genres and simple categorization. Betty celebrates diversity in her art.
